SSC CGL DEST — Data Entry Speed Test

Guidelines & Rules for SSC CGL Tier-II DEST

1. Total duration of the actual typing test is 15 minutes (Compulsory qualifying session for all posts).
2. Test Language & Standard: SSC CGL DEST is conducted strictly in English (Alphanumeric text on QWERTY layout). There is no Hindi typing option in SSC CGL DEST.
3. Key Depressions & Speed: Candidates must type a passage of 2000 key depressions in 15 minutes (equivalent to 8000 KDPH / approx. 27 WPM).
4. Word Highlighting & Display: Blind typing interface (no live highlight and no red underline) on standard TCS iON examination platform. The master passage appears on top and typing area is below.
5. Backspace Policy: Fully allowed/enabled throughout the 15-minute test duration to edit, modify, and rectify typos.
6. Mistake Evaluation:
   • Full Mistakes (1 Error): Omission of word/figure, substitution of wrong word, addition of unnecessary word, severe spelling errors, incomplete words.
   • Half Mistakes (0.5 Error): Spacing errors (omitting/inserting spaces), capitalization/case errors, punctuation mark errors, transposition of words.
7. Permissible Error Percentage Limits:
   • CPT / DEST-Specific Posts (Tax Assistant, etc.): UR: Max 5% | OBC/EWS: Max 7% | SC/ST/PwD: Max 10% error.
   • Non-DEST / General Posts: UR: Max 20% | OBC/EWS: Max 25% | SC/ST: Max 30% error.
8. Candidates must complete the test in one sitting — do not refresh or close the window mid-test.
