| 4. Backspace & Navigation Controls | ||
| 11 | Backspace Allowance | Limited Backspace — Backspace works only on the current word and the previous word. Mistakes further back cannot be corrected.
(Tip: Since error highlight is OFF and backspace is limited, accuracy matters more than raw speed — type steadily.) |

| 5. Evaluation, Error Limit & Calculation | ||

• Max Typed Error: UR 5% · EWS 7% · OBC 7% · SC 10% · ST 10% · PWBD 10% · ESM 10% • Minimum Accuracy: UR 95% · EWS 93% · OBC 93% · SC 90% · ST 90% · PWBD 90% · ESM 90% If Typed Error % goes above the limit of your category, the candidate is not qualified. • Mistake penalty: Full mistake = 1 cut, Half mistake = 0.5 cut, counted on gross (typed) words — applied only to mistakes beyond the allowed error. |

• Full Mistake (1): word omission, word substitution (wrong word), word addition (extra word), word repetition, line omission, line repetition, corrupt word, incomplete word, figure / number error. • Half Mistake (0.5): spelling (minor) mistake, capital / small letter error, space omission, unwanted space, multiple spaces, punctuation error, character transposition, word transposition. • Half Mistake (0.5) — Hindi typing only: matra error, halant error, nukta error, nasal character (anusvar / chandrabindu) error, ligature / conjunct error. |
| 16 | Calculation Formulas | • Gross WPM: (Total Characters Typed / 5) ÷ 15 Minutes
• Penalty: Mistakes beyond the allowed error are cut from the gross words — Full mistake ×1, Half mistake ×0.5. • Net WPM: (Gross words − Penalty) ÷ 15 • Typed Error (%): (Mistakes ÷ Total Words Typed) × 100 • Accuracy (%): 100 − Error % (or Correct Words ÷ Total Words Typed × 100) • Fail if Typed Error % is greater than the limit of your category (Point 14). |
| 17 | Final Qualifying Condition | • English & Hindi: Net WPM ≥ 20 and Typed Error ≤ category limit and Accuracy ≥ category minimum (as given in Point 14). |
| 6. Exam Conduct & Technical Rules | ||
| 18 | Passage Completion & Repetition | If you complete typing the entire passage before 15 minutes expire, press Spacebar once and retype from the beginning. |
| 19 | Auto-Submission | When the 15:00 timer reaches 00:00, the test will submit automatically. Do not attempt to close the browser. |
| 20 | Prohibited Keys | Function keys such as F5 (Refresh), Ctrl+R, Alt+Tab, Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V, and the Windows Key are strictly prohibited. |
| 21 | Keypad Verification | Before starting the test, verify the Spacebar, Shift, Enter, Backspace and alphabet keys. Alert the invigilator immediately if any hardware issue occurs. |
